GOP Web Connect websites are built on a user-friendly content management system. To show you how easy our system is to use, we've broken down the functionality into several quick video tutorials. Each video is only a few minutes long.
GOP Web Connect Overview
This video gives an overview of our GOP Web Connect features. We are using a Basic Plan account for this tutorial. Plus and Premium Plan accounts have some additional options.
Adding and Editing Pages
This video demonstrates how to add a new page to our website and how to edit an existing page. Many of the concepts in this tutorial apply to all other content types as well, so be sure to watch this video before moving on to more advanced topics.
Adding Images To Your Content
Learn how to upload images from your desktop and insert them into the body of your content. This video assumes that you are already familiar with the basic edit functions of a page, so watch our Adding and Editing Pages tutorial if you have not already done so.
Adding Documents To Your Content
This video demonstrates how to add a document to your content. Allowable document extensions include .pdf, .doc, .wps, .ppt, and .xls.
Changing Your Page Navigation Menu
With GOP Web Connect, you can reorder your pages, make certain pages subpages of others, rename your page menu links, and set other configuration options. Especially useful for Plus and Premium Plan customers who wish to turn off certain features like the Blog or Events page.
Adding and Editing Quotes
This tutorial shows you how to add, edit, and delete the Quote content type. Quotes are displayed in the right sidebar, one at a time, on a random rotation.
Configuring Social Networking Badges
Configure your site to display our premade badges for various social networking websites including facebook, myspace, twitter, ning, and youtube.
Editing General Site Information
Change the name, slogan, and footer message that is displayed on every page of your website. Also change which page is displayed as your default front page.
Uploading A Custom Logo
All GOP Web Connect websites come with a default Republican logo, but Plus and Premium Plan customers have the ability to upload a custom logo to their website. This tutorial demonstrates how to upload a custom logo, turn off the logo entirely, and revert back to the default Republican logo.
Adding and Editing Blog Posts
Learn how to add a new blog post and edit existing posts. This tutorial will also demonstrate how to change how your Blog page appears in the page menu, including changing the name of your Blog page, disabling your Blog page, and making your Blog display as the front page of your website.
Adding Video To A Blog Post
This tutorial demonstrates how to add a video from YouTube or other 3rd party video sites to your blog posts, using the simple text string "[video:url-of-video]". This same method can also be used to add video to other content types as well, such as pages.
Adding and Editing Events
Learn how to add a new event to your event calendar and edit existing events. Events disappear automatically after their date has passed without you having to delete them. Watch the tutorial on Changing Your Page Navigation Menu to see how to remove your Events page from your menu.
Adding and Editing Sidebar Items
Plus and Premium Plan customers can create custom sidebar items on both the left and right sidebars. Sidebar Items are important information that is displayed on every page such as donate buttons and email newsletter subscription forms.
Managing Users
Plus and Premium Plan customers can create additional users for their websites. Users can have one of 3 different roles. Owners have the full permissions that we have seen in our tutorials. Editors can only create and edit content, but cannot manage configuration options. Authors can only create certain content types and can only edit content that they created.
Changing Your Contact Form
Plus and Premium Plan customers have a pre-configured Contact Form, where users can submit messages that will then be emailed to you. This tutorial demonstrates how to make basic changes to your Contact Form. The examples include changing the email address that emails are submitted to, adding a new field, and adding check box options.
Adding A Photo Album To Your Gallery
GOP Web Connect Premium customers can create a Photo Gallery page with multiple Photo Albums. Basic and Plus customers cannot create Photo Albums but can add individual photos to a page or blog post.
Adding A Video To Your Gallery
Premium Plan customers have a Video Gallery page, where you can add videos from many different 3rd party video sites, such as YouTube, Google, Vimeo, and more. This tutorial demonstrates how to add a video to your gallery, and how to edit an existing gallery.
